Traditional Music of Iveragh - Ceol Traidisiúnta Uíbh Ráthaigh Volume 1

This volume of tunes selected from the Binneas archive opens a window on the rich musical heritage of the area extending back in time over two hundred years. The transcriptions of the tunes and dance music of the local musicians display the individual styles and talent that make up the local repertoire. The titles of the tunes capture many of the features of the geographical landscape and the characters of the area. The music played for the various local sets, some long since forgotten, are also contained within. There are over one hundred and fifty tunes in the volume, many of which appear here in print for the first time and would have been lost to the tradition but for the efforts of the Binneas project.

Osclaíonn an t-imleabhar seo fuinneog ar an oidhreacht shaibhir ceoil sa cheantar ag síneadh siar dhá chéad bhliain nó níos mó.  Tá na foinn seo roghnaithe ó Chartlann Bhinneas. Taispeánann athscríbhinní na bhfonn agus ceol rince na gceoltóirí áitiúla,  talann agus stíl an cheoltóra aonair agus nuair a chuirtear na ceoltóirí aonaracha sin le chéile bíonn stór áitiúil agat.  Tá tírdhreach tíreolaíochta agus pearsantacht na ndaoine le braith in an-chuid de theidil na bhfonn.  Tá ceol seite le fáil freisin san eagrán seo – cuid acu atá imithe i léig le fada an lá.
